The Navy's Medical Department includes the Medical Corps and Dental Corps. It can also include other staff corps that the Secretary of the Navy creates and assigns there.
This section is one undivided provision. It defines what makes up the Medical Department of the Navy. Two groups are always included: the Medical Corps and the Dental Corps. The Secretary of the Navy can also create other staff corps under section 8090(b) of this title, and if the Secretary designates one of those corps to be part of the Medical Department, it becomes part of it too.
The Medical Corps and Dental Corps, and such other staff corps as the Secretary of the Navy may establish under section 8090(b) of this title and designate to be in the Medical Department of the Navy, are in the Medical Department of the Navy.
