It is a misdemeanor to knowingly obtain a bridge-toll exemption or authorization without being entitled to it, or to knowingly issue an authorization for a right that does not exist. The punishment can include a fine, imprisonment, or both.
A person who knowingly obtains or tries to obtain the toll exemption in sections 1002 through 1004, or an authorization under section 1003, without being entitled to it commits a misdemeanor. A person who knowingly signs or issues an authorization falsely certifying that the right exists also commits a misdemeanor. On conviction, the punishment may be a fine of up to $100, imprisonment for up to 10 days, or both.
Whoever secures or attempts to secure the exemption from toll provided for in sections 1002 to 1004 of this title or an authorization referred to in section 1003 of this title, knowing that he is not entitled thereto, and whoever signs or issues any such authorization certifying to such right of exemption, knowing that such right does not exist, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $100 or by imprisonment for not more than ten days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
