16 U.S.C. § 460mmm–6 — Advisory Council

(a) Establishment: Within 6 months of October 24, 2000, the Secretary must create the "McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area Advisory Council." (b) Duty: The Council advises the Secretary on preparing and carrying out the management plan for the Conservation Area and Wilderness, including budget matters. (c) Applicable law: The Council follows chapter 10 of title 5 (the federal advisory-committee law) and the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976. (d) Members: The Secretary appoints 10 members, including, as much as practical: (1) someone from or nominated by the Mesa County Commission; (2) someone nominated by ranchers holding grazing permits in the Conservation Area or Wilderness; (3) someone from or nominated by the Northwest Resource Advisory Council; and (4) seven people who live in or near Mesa County, Colorado, with backgrounds reflecting the area's purposes and the interests of people affected by its management.
