The Secretary of Education must require an assurance from each grantee receiving funds under this chapter. The grantee must understand the importance of student privacy protections and be aware of its responsibilities under section 1232g of this title.
The Secretary of Education must require an "assurance" from each grantee receiving funds under this chapter. The grantee must assure that it understands the importance of privacy protections for students and is aware of its responsibilities under section 1232g of this title, commonly known as the "Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974." This section does not define "assurance" or explain the requirements of that Act.
The Secretary shall require an assurance that each grantee receiving funds under this chapter understands the importance of privacy protections for students and is aware of the responsibilities of the grantee under section 1232g of this title (commonly known as the “Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974”).
