20 U.S.C. § 80t–1 — Establishment of Museum

(a) Establishment: The law creates, within the Smithsonian Institution, a comprehensive women's history museum, to be named by the Board of Regents after consulting the council established under section 80t–2 (referred to in this subchapter as "the Museum"). (b) Purpose: The Museum's purpose is to provide for: (1) collecting and studying, and creating programs about, women's contributions across various fields and periods of history that have shaped the United States; (2) collaborating with other Smithsonian museums and facilities, outside museums, and educational institutions; and (3) creating exhibits and programs that recognize diverse perspectives on women's history and contributions.
