A person may be an active member if the person has good moral character and received one of four listed medals for specified heroic service. The corporation may extend membership to parents and direct descendants on constitutional and bylaw terms. Each nonassociate member has one vote.
(a) Eligibility.—A person may be an active member if the person (1) has good moral character and (2) received the Congressional Medal of Honor, Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, or Air Force Cross for extraordinary heroism in military or naval operations against an armed enemy, or for especially distinguished heroism, while serving in the United States or a foreign country’s Armed Forces. (b) Parents and descendants.—The corporation may extend active or associate membership eligibility to the parents and direct descendants of a person described in subsection (a), on terms in its constitution and bylaws. (c) Voting.—Each member except an associate member has one vote on every matter submitted to a members’ meeting.
An individual is eligible for active membership in the corporation if the individual—
is of good moral character; and
has received a Congressional Medal of Honor, a Distinguished Service Cross, a Navy Cross, or an Air Force Cross awarded for acts of extraordinary heroism in connection with military or naval operations against an armed enemy, or for heroism of a specially distinguished character, as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States or any foreign country.
The corporation may extend eligibility for membership, either active or associate, to parents and lineal descendants of an individual described in subsection (a) of this section on terms provided in its constitution and bylaws.
Each member (except an associate member) has one vote on each matter submitted to a vote at a meeting of the members.
