Except for this chapter's rules, the corporation's constitution and bylaws set membership rights and classes. Membership is limited to certain female relatives of Union service members and other loyal women who did not aid U.S. enemies.
Except as provided in this chapter, eligibility for membership in the corporation and the rights, privileges, and designation of classes of members are as provided in the constitution and bylaws of the corporation. Eligibility for membership is limited to—
women who are the wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters of Union soldiers, sailors, and marines; and
other loyal women who have not given aid or comfort to the enemies of the United States of America.
