The Secretary must call a yearly conference of state health authorities, and must call one whenever five or more states request it jointly; each state gets one vote, and mental health authorities join when mental health topics come up. The Secretary must also regularly publish public health information, including weekly reports on health conditions.

This section sets rules for health conferences and public health publications. (a) The Secretary must call a conference of state health authorities every year. The Secretary may also invite other state or local officials and organizations to a conference whenever that would help public health. If health authorities from five or more states ask, the Secretary must call a conference of all the states that joined the request. Each state at a conference gets one vote. When a conference will discuss mental health topics, the states' mental health authorities must be invited too. (b) The Secretary must regularly publish public health information for the public, including weekly reports on health conditions in the United States and other countries, and other health information useful to people and organizations working in health services.
