This section lets the Secretary rent equipment and animals. The Secretary can hire work animals and vehicles, with or without their operators. Rental rates need Secretary approval, and normal bidding rules do not apply.
The Secretary* can hire work animals and vehicles — including animal-drawn and motor-powered ones — and equipment. This hiring can be with or without the personal services of an operator. Rates must be approved by the Secretary. This hiring does not have to follow the normal bidding process in section 6101 of title 41.
The Secretary* may hire, with or without personal services, work animals and animal-drawn and motor-propelled vehicles and equipment at rates to be approved by the Secretary and without compliance with section 6101 of title 41.
