This section defines "preservation" or "historic preservation." The term covers activities like identifying, protecting, restoring, and maintaining historic property. It also covers teaching and training people to do that work, or any combination of these.
This section defines "preservation" or "historic preservation" for this division. The term covers three kinds of work: (1) a long list of hands-on activities — identifying, evaluating, recording, documenting, curating, acquiring, protecting, managing, rehabilitating, restoring, stabilizing, maintaining, researching, interpreting, and conserving historic property*; (2) teaching and training people to do those activities; or (3) any mix of the two.
In this division, the term “preservation” or “historic preservation” includes—
identification, evaluation, recordation, documentation, curation, acquisition, protection, management, rehabilitation, restoration, stabilization, maintenance, research, interpretation, and conservation;
education and training regarding the foregoing activities; or
any combination of the foregoing activities.
