54 U.S.C. § 300318 — State historic preservation review board

This section defines "State^* historic preservation^* review board" for this division. It's a board, council^*, commission, or similar group set up under section 302301(2) of this title, with three features. (1) The State Historic Preservation^* Officer appoints its members, unless State law says someone else does. (2) Most of its members must be professionals qualified in fields like history, prehistoric and historic archeology, architectural history, architecture, folklore, cultural anthropology, curation, conservation, and landscape architecture, or related fields. (3) It must have the power to (A) review National Register^* nominations and appeals from those nominations, (B) review the paperwork submitted with Historic Preservation Fund^* requests, (C) give general advice and guidance to the State Historic Preservation Officer, and (D) do other appropriate duties.
