6 U.S.C. § 235 — Coordination of information and information technology

(a) Definition of affected agency: In this section, "affected agency" means the Department, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Health and Human Services, and any other department or agency the Secretary decides is appropriate. (b) Coordination: The Secretary, working with the Secretary of Agriculture, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the head of each other appropriate agency, must make sure that information about inspections of imported goods is shared quickly and efficiently among the affected agencies. The Secretary decides exactly what information counts as "appropriate" to share. (c) Report and plan: Within 18 months of November 25, 2002, the Secretary, in consultation with those same officials, had to send Congress two things: a report on the progress made putting this section into action, and a plan for finishing that work.
