May is Steelmark Month. It honors what the U.S. steel industry has contributed to national security and defense. The President is asked to declare it with a proclamation calling for ceremonies and activities.
This section creates a yearly observance called Steelmark Month.
(a) Designation. May is named Steelmark Month.
(b) Purpose. Steelmark Month recognizes the huge contribution the steel industry in the United States has made to national security and defense.
(c) Proclamation. The President is requested — not required — to issue a proclamation asking people in the United States to observe Steelmark Month with fitting ceremonies and activities.

The President is requested to issue a proclamation calling on the people of the United States to observe Steelmark Month with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
