Membership is available to people who meet the listed military-service and disability requirements. Honorary memberships are forbidden.
(a) An individual may join if the individual: (1)(A) was wounded, exposed to gas, injured, or disabled in the line of duty during wartime while serving in the United States military or naval forces, and (B) was honorably discharged or separated, or remains on active duty in the Armed Forces; or (2)(A) became disabled while serving in the armed forces of a United States ally during one of that country’s war periods, (B) is a United States citizen, and (C) was honorably discharged.
(b) The corporation may not grant honorary membership.
An individual is eligible for membership in the corporation if the individual—
was wounded, gassed, injured, or disabled in the line of duty during time of war while in the service of the military or naval forces of the United States; and
was honorably discharged or separated from that service or is still in active service in the Armed Forces of the United States; or
was disabled while serving with any of the Armed Forces of a country associated with the United States as an ally during any of its war periods;
is a citizen of the United States; and
was honorably discharged.
An honorary membership may not be granted.
