The interagency working group must periodically update the government's space weather benchmarks. These come from a June 2018 report called "Space Weather Phase 1 Benchmarks." Updates happen when new science or new user needs make it necessary.
The interagency working group created under section 60601(c) must periodically review and update the benchmarks in the National Science and Technology Council's report titled "Space Weather Phase 1 Benchmarks," dated June 2018. The working group updates these benchmarks as necessary, based on: (1) any significant new data or advances in scientific understanding that come along; or (2) the changing needs of the people and organizations affected by space weather.
The interagency working group established under section 60601(c) shall periodically review and update the benchmarks described in the report of the National Science and Technology Council entitled “Space Weather Phase 1 Benchmarks” and dated June 2018, as necessary, based on—
any significant new data or advances in scientific understanding that become available; or
the evolving needs of entities impacted by space weather phenomena.
